For motion, the camera can record a clip of all the motion it sees, but the app lets you choose to be notified only of people. This is a great feature — I certainly don't want a push notification every time a car goes by — and it worked very well. I never got a notification of a person that wasn't actually a person. Then, you can just open the app to see a timeline of all motion events, not just people. The Nest Hello has some other cool features worth mentioning:Pre recorded responses: If you can't even be bothered to speak to the person at the door, you can tap the Responses button that appears in the Nest app and choose one of three recordings that will play out of the doorbell's speaker. Tap "Can't come to the door," for example, and the speaker will cheerfully chirp, "Hi there! We can't come to the door right now, but we'll be notified you stopped by.

I removed the camera from the mounting plate a little scary–the two retaining clips on the right side are two step releases and they’re plastic and charged the camera using the micro USB port and my Nook charger. I backed the mounting screws off a bit and reinstalled the camera. Everything has worked perfectly since then and today I had a package delivered and the camera caught a video clip of the delivery perfectly! The interaction/notification through the ADT app on my iPhone is just awesome. The doorbell camera is a great addition to my ADT system. I just had ADT install the video doorbell, I have an issue with the power, my original doorbell wires went to a Niles DBI 1 doorbell interface, so when the button was pushed it would create a contact trigger with the Niles unit which would have it play its chimes throughout the house using the whole home audio speakers in each room. To get the ADT video unit to work we had to remove the Niles interface and install a transformer to run continuous power to the ADT unit.

But as soon as we were stepping out of the door it would go off. Both our original and replacement unit had this issue. Also, the unit was picking up cars driving by on a road 50 feet away from our house or changes in lighting shadows moving in the distance. After the first day of receiving 6 notifications in under an hour, we had to turn off one of the advertised features. Luckily, a few weeks later they added the ability to adjust the sensitivity and I just so happened to have an iPhone in a drawer, and I was able to use the iOS app to put it on low. Now we don't get any notifications from the motion sensor. Now that I think about it, I am actually concerned if it is working at all on low. We have packages delivered and such and I haven't had any notifications since making the adjustment. I see in other reviews apparently changing to low makes it as useless as high. Where with high you get constant notifications and low it is nearly impossible to trip the motion sensor. I haven't done further testing myself, but that seems to be holding true here given the activity I know has been in front of it recently.
